There is one unit of N.S.S. in Jashipur College consisting of fifty volunteers and one Programme officer, Student having keen interest to work for the Society join the N.S.S.

The objective of the N.S.S. are classified under two broad categories.
A. Overall objective.
B. Specific objective.

A. OVERALL OBJECTIVES : The overall objectives of the National Service Scheme is Education, Service to the community is the thing through which this objective is sought to be attained.

B. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES : The more specific objectives of the National Service Scheme are to arouse the Students social awareness and to provide them with the opportunity.
1. To work with and among people.
2. To engage in the creative and constructive social action of community through a contract with reality.
3. To enhance the student’s knowledge of themselves and of community through a contract with reality.
4. To put the Scholarship to practical use in solving at least some of the social problems.
5. To gain skill in the exercise of democratic leadership.
6. To gain skill in the development programme to enable him to get himself employed.
To identify urgent needs of the various communities and agencies.
7. To undertake and execute programme to meet community needs.
8. To establish and maintain supplimentary service to meet community needs. 9. To develop programmes of significant welfare. 10. To build insfrastructure for economic and social development. 11. To strengthen social solidarity and national integration. The following is the programme of activities suggested.
a. Literary.
b. Social Education.
c. School Social Service such as helping in students, promoting attendance promoting admission specially for backward classes.
d. Book Bank.
2. Constructive work :
a. Building and repair of roads.
b. Digging, renovation, cleaning of tanks and wells.
c. Improvement of public places like schools, hospitals etc.
d. Helping during cultivation and harvesting.
e. Tree plantation.
f. Promoting kitchen gardens.
g. Presservatiuon of ancient monuments.
3. Recreation : 
a. Organising play ground forboth school going and non-school going children.
b. Organising sports, music, dramatic competitions etc. in the community.
4. Health : 
a. Sevrvice to patients in the hospital and outside the hospital ward, letter writing for patients.
b. Health Education and demonstration of nutritive food preparation.
5. Campaigns : 
a. For the erradication of social evils like untouchability, superstitions, child marriage, dowry etc.
b. For improvement of slum conditions, sanitation.
c. For improvement of Agriculture, consolidations of holdings, and co-operative farming.
